Ticket to Paradise

Telling someone to calm down has literally never calmed anyone down in the history of the universe.

In a way, I kind of respect Ticket to Paradise for what it is - total horse shit that is running on the fumes of pure star power (Julia Roberts and George Clooney). It’s almost cynical idea to just have two really charming attractive people fly out to a cool location and just… be charming and attractive. It also makes sense to hire the guy who directed Mamma Mia 21 if this is all you want from your film.

In theory it’s a film about two divorced parents who re-unite to stop their daughter’s super-speedy marriage to a man she just met in Bali. If you’ve seen Blockers2 you’ll know that there’s some comedy to be had in this scenario but Ticket to Paradise inexplicably squanders it all. In spite of numerous set-ups for jokes it seems to stubbornly refuse to want to have any pay-offs, or at least always choose the least funny turn of events.

If you just want to see these two in action just go back and watch Ocean’s Eleven3 and you’ll see more sparks fly in one scene than in the whole film here. In fact, I might just take my own advice.
