22 Jump Street

It’s Vietnamese Jesus now, you racist motherfucker.
17 July 2014

Despite my love for 21 Jump Street my hopes weren’t high for this sequel. Thankfully in this case Hollywood’s milking of the cash cow has produced more gold. How they managed to make this as funny and original as the first film beats me, but they did.

It’s not my place to give too much away so I’ll keep this one short. This is silly, witty, hilarious fun. Hill and Tatum are brilliant together, the supporting cast (Ice Cube in particular) are equally great. The direction is inventive and playful, despite the torrent of great jokes Lord and Miller manage to keep the whole thing focused and feeling like an action film. They seem to have a grasp of physical comedy that has eluded so many others these days.

Mark my words, 22 Jump Street, along with its predecessor, will go down as a classic.
