The Thin Man

A murder suspect goes missing. As interest grows in the case an old detective gets sweet talked into getting back into business and solving it.

The Thin Man has all the elements of a film doomed to be forgotten: a convoluted plot, a tight budget, a director fond of single takes and a slightly-too-old leading man.

And yet, plot aside, these factors seem to be what make the film so great. Nick and Nora (William Powell, Myrna Loy) are just so at ease with each other, it’s a joy to watch them at work. They ooze charm, affection, chemistry and spontaneity to the point where it becomes the focus of the film.

The story is tedious which is a shame and it often takes away from what we actually want to see, but when we’re all having this much fun who cares?
