WALL-E
“Too much garbage in your face? There’s plenty of space out in space!”
This has to be the biggest gamble ever taken by Pixar. It takes giant balls to make a kids film without dialogue for the whole first third.
And yet it works. Sure it goes off the boil at times but WALL-E is a profound and beautiful masterpiece, truly an inspired piece of work. Stanton focuses on the minutia of humanity and uses it to hold up a mirror to it. How something can be so glum and yet so uplifting is a miracle.
A work of genius.
