The Dark Knight Rises

A hero can be anyone.

The people in the hell dungeon here shout ‘rise’ to prisoners trying to climb their way out. Are we as an audience supposed to ‘rise’ above our childish impulses to laugh at Bane’s ridiculous voice? The moment he opens his mouth I am reminded of the Power Rangers - a lot of hand gestures and a whole load of work in post.

It’s an odd oversight that sort of hijacks the film. Some might say Bane is an unforgettable character, and he is, but when the credits roll you find yourself doing stupid impressions of him.

All in all this is not a great send off to the trilogy. It’s another technical masterpiece but it’s way too long, with a disjointed story and mostly pointless characters. Solid but forgettable.
