The Return of the Pink Panther

The Return of the Pink Panther sees Sellers reprise his role as Inspector Clouseau after a decade-long hiatus.

It’s not as original or as consistently funny as the other two but a lot of the jokes I remember from the series as a kid come from this film. Herbert Lom’s gun-shaped cigarette lighter gets me every time.

Having Lady Lytton laugh at Clouseau’s clumsy antics is a clever way to get the audience on her side, and when the reveal comes that she’s the thief you want her to get away with it.
