Going in Style

It is a culture’s duty to take care of its elderly.
23 December 2019

Three old men (Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin) are down on their luck, their pensions scrapped and the bank threatening to foreclose on their houses. They hatch a plan to rob a bank and make back the money they lost.

Painfully forgettable. Telegraphs its every move to the audience to the point where it’s just running on autopilot. There is absolutely no twist in the tail here, and yet the final third is dedicated to ‘unravelling’ the story.

Going in style is not particularly bad or unfunny, but it is devoid of any substance or novelty. It’s 90 minutes of comfort food, indigestion included.
