An Englishman’s Commonplace Book

Every garden, however small, should include at least two acres of rough woodland. - The 1st Lord Rothschild

A commonplace book is a place where you might gather quotes, conversations overheard, facts, recipes—anything that you feel is worth writing down to refer back to later.

Roger Hudson has edited his down and taken it to press, and it’s a little treasure trove of wit and wisdom. He treads carefully to avoid the book becoming a series of quotes you might find on a poster, giving it a certain personal touch that perhaps limits the target audience but makes for a better book.

It’s a nicely cloth-bound tome that will charm people for years to come.
