Mulan

I couldn’t resist going back to this after the dodgy remake.

Not the finest film of the 90s Disney renaissance, but it’s not hard to see why people were so upset at the remake. There’s a vitality and heart to Mulan that has now been replaced with flashy effects and a bland script.

Every character in the film is muddling through, just trying to come out alive. This includes Mulan. It’s one of the most compelling aspects of the story, and it was carelessly torn out in the live-action version.
