Take the Money and Run

A faux-documentary about a hapless criminal (Woody Allen), constantly in and out of jail.

Where Annie Hall woos you with its artfulness and wit, Take the Money and Run is pure slapstick infused with Allen’s trademark neuroses. The sight gags remind me of silent movies, especially in the relatively dialogue-free early scenes.

It’s not his best work but it might be some of his funniest.
