A Castle for Christmas
She’ll crumble like an oatcake in the rain.

An American author (Brooke Shields) escapes to Scotland to rediscover her roots and buy a castle. She must contend with its irritable owner (Cary Elwes).
It’s cool to see a cheap Christmas rom-com fronted by slightly older leads rather than 21 year-olds. Beyond that, this is pretty much the vapid, hastily made film you’d expect. This one has a particularly patronising view on rural life and life in Scotland—it’s fake accents pretty much all round and plenty of whisky drinking in the snow.
Probably best avoided but let’s face it if you’re even thinking about watching this, this article won’t deter you; Netflix sunk its Christmas movie fangs into you a long time ago.
