Part three of my “abusing cinema air conditioning” series is a re-watch of this, a film I very much enjoyed back in May and was happy to see they are still showing now due to well-deserved ongoing interest in it.
Will all the surprises taken out the real family dynamic starts to shine through here, and some semblance of structure also appears. I’m not sure I’ll ever enjoy it quite as much as when I didn’t know what was coming, but it’s nice to be able to take a step back from the relentless madness and see the bigger picture. Perhaps on first viewing you are the mother learning the ropes, on second viewing you are the all-seeing daughter.
I really wonder how this will look in 20 years but for now it’s a welcome change from the norm.
