A blend of documentary and scripted drama based around the suspicious death of the filmmaker’s teenage cousin Tessa in 2008. A grown-up version of Tessa (Schelby Jean-Baptiste) talks to her grief stricken mother (Florence Blain Mbaye) in a space somewhere between life and death.
A beautiful film wracked with pain and perhaps seeking catharsis, This House is more of a poem or a dream-scape rather than a conventional narrative driven film. Miryam Charles explores this traumatic event in a tactful and artful way that is at once personal yet accessible to the audience.
