Nicholas Hoult plays Renfield, Dracula’s (Nicolas Cage) familiar. After years of servitude he’s sick of it and seeks redemption out in the normal world.
A real mixed bag of a film. On the one hand Nicolas Cage plays a role he was born to play and soaks up every second of it, on the other hand the actual plot is some weird corrupt cop narrative with Awkwafina trying to save her sister from the mob.
Renfield does find its own comedic voice and some of the jokes land. It all goes awry when this is mushed together with a discount The Departed.
Good Cage, weak film.
