Final Destination Bloodlines

Well we finally made it to the pictures to watch this new entry into the franchise, released 14 years after the last one. My premonition¹ was that it might be alright.

Well sure enough, it’s alright! Up until the final third, it’s a total hoot. Much like in the 5th film it feels like they really grabbed the idea by the horns and ran with it. There are a couple of freewheeling Buster Keaton style scenes that really sing.

Yeah it’s the same old story but you’ve got actors that play their deadpan comedy roles really well, something that was hard to come by in the other films. There’s a level of care put into setting up the mad deaths that I don’t think we’ve seen before.

Well worth the price of admission.
