Good Boys

I think the dearth of comedies in Hollywood made me want to revisit this to see if it’s still funny. It’s a bit of a gem.

There’s one little detail where Tremblay slides down a pole on a playground, and it squeals away and burns his hands. It’s a two-second shot that moves on straight away, but it’s indicative of the unusual level of insight and attention to detail you see throughout the script. Everything has a little joke or a little bit of truth squeezed in.

I don’t know anyone who saw this at the time, so I guess chalk it up as a future cult-classic.
