Live Wire

Some real 90s thriller sleaze here. A pre-Bond Pierce Brosnan plays a bomb defusal guy brought in to investigate the strange spontaneous combustion of a senator.
It’s a short film at less than 90 minutes but it really does have it all. You’ve got a police procedural, a love triangle (where the woman cheats on Pierce with… Ron Silver), political hijinks, gore, an insane plot about exploding water, a robot that gropes people, naked bathtub shagging (complete with saxophone) and a mind-in-the-gutter sense of humour.
Are you not entertained? The direction is mad and the dialogue is ripped straight from a bucket of cliches (I like it when they call explosives ‘plastique’) and yet… there is something quite engaging about Live Wire.
A quick dose of total bollocks that is wild ride and a lot of fun.
