“I had the most absurd nightmare. I was poor and no one liked me.”

Still funny after 40 years, and with a great pay off.
The train scene wouldn’t get made now because of the blackface, but also it’s not that funny and adds little to what is otherwise a really well balanced and thoughtful film.
Maybe it’s idealistic but once the initial scene has been set, it’s completely plausible that Eddie Murphy’s character could thrive. He does a wonderful job of showing his intelligence without losing his sense of self.
Another film-I-forgot-was-a-Christmas-film to add the collection.
