My local cinema club is back on at the village hall, and this was their first showing.

It was 12 years ago¹ almost to the day since I last saw it but frankly there’s not much I’d forgotten - still a great documentary that interviews everyone important in its domain.

Perhaps it’s a little bit rudderless, but this second time around I feel like I understood what it was getting at a little better.

Worth a watch just for the segment about Merry Clayton on Gimme Shelter - she got dragged out of bed in the middle of the night, pregnant, to go and record one of the all time great backing vocals in two takes.
