Champagne Problems

A woman representing a US investment firm (Minka Kelly) travels to France to secure the purchase of an old family champagne business. She runs into trouble, especially with the son (Tom Wozniczka) who, guess what, she has the hots for.
From the man who brought you Daredevil, Ghost Rider and then, years later, Love in the Villa1 - clearly this guy upset the movie gods.
I’ll cut Netflix some slack here - they clearly really went to France to make this, with some pricey looking location work in Paris, and then some stuff out at a few chateaus in the country. Also, they hired French actors to play the locals, and in fact a lot of the dialogue happens in French.
I suspect this was paid for by Stellantis HQ, who awkwardly crowbarred their ‘new electric Peugeots with satellite navigation’ into the picture. Talking of cars, there’s a GMC Yukon in this, which seems to have teleported itself from America.
Anyway the rest of it is the same predictable Christmassy guff you might expect, but Champagne Problems isn’t completely devoid of any charm or humour and avoids being totally shit. Just a bit shit. Which is probably what you wanted when you put it on isn’t it.
