Rogue One

I don’t really do TV reviews here (I cannot be arsed) but I just watched Andor and figured I should go back to Rogue One given it’s been 9 years since I last saw it and I couldn’t even remember who Andor was in it.
Andor might be a hard sell given that it’s a prequel to a prequel but it’s only two series, the episodes are of a normal length, and it’s perhaps the most sober and thoughtfully made Star Wars stuff I’ve seen. It’s about fighting space Nazis, and the human cost of resistance. It’s wonderfully written and acted out. Denise Gough in particular is just sensational.
Rogue One, not the happiest film itself, is more willing to embrace shooty shooty shenanigans (and a macabre CG rendition of a dead Peter Cushing) and in contrast is pretty easy going - but it’s still one of my favourite Star Wars things in an increasingly diluted pool of Star Wars things. This ‘plot hole’ that the Death Star has a back door that could make it explode was a running joke, and has been transformed into something of real value.
