Film: Paddington 2

"Are you quite sure you're ready for the workplace, Paddington?"

I never thought I’d say this but Paddington 2 is one of the best films of 2017, up there with Get Out, Dunkirk, Lady Bird and The Shape of Water (Sally Hawkins is in both, and is in the water in both).

It’s larger than life and colourful but so closely paired to reality that you sink into its world like a pair of old slippers. You feel like you know and love the version of London it portrays even though it’s largely a fiction (or at the very least an existence reserved for the very wealthy).

There is nothing bad to say, everyone is great in this, the plot is simple but funny, the soundtrack is marvellous - it’s a warm, happy, masterpiece that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
