The final part of the Themis Files trilogy. After disaster struck in the last novel, this time our protagonists are sent to another planet.
I cut this series some slack in the last novel but now the ‘found footage’ format of the books is really starting to take its toll. The previous books were mostly interviews, where the neutral voice of the interviewer helped each character stand out. Here, the interviewer is gone so it’s even hard to imagine where the ‘transcripts’ are even coming from.
The result is a bit of a stylistic mess, with hard-to-pick-apart characters and a convoluted plot that’s gone off the boil.
It’s a shame to have to say it, but this book just doesn’t quite stick the landing for the trilogy.
