More from the Llŷn Peninsula

Some light leak disasters on this roll, the back of the Pentax 17 took a bump and opened! Luckily all was not lost but… a lot was lost.
We’re back with the tail end of the Wales trip1. I ran out of Cinestill so switched to Ilford HP5. It was flat grey light for a lot of the trip so I thought I’d try pushing the film to 800 and seeing if we got some more contrast. I’ve never done this before because it wasn’t an option back in the day with the labs I used. You can tell I have no idea what I’m doing.

I did like 80% of the results. There were a few not included here that just needed more exposure, so shooting at 800 was a mistake.

Half-frame can be a double edged sword - it’s hard to shoot to specific conditions when you have 70+ shots on a roll that might take a week or so to get through. In future I’d make safer more middle of the road choices for this camera and use a full-frame camera when I wanted to push or pull film.

These are all around the beach outside Morfa Nefyn, a lovely location. You can walk up the beach 20 minutes to Porthdinllaen, where the Tŷ Coch Inn pictured below is. We had some lunch there but it was a squeeze to get in, even a few minutes after opening on a November day!

It was a nice few days over there and while the pictures didn’t all work out, pushing HP5 a stop did get some of the effects I was hoping for. I think it helped accentuate the bleak November landscape on the peninsula.
